wnw Iroquois county IL | Remember it well,,,when still had lines on poles if lightning hit the pole it would splinter them down to ground. when we got running water brought into the house they laid the phone line over it in the basement and then we got a floor furnace and they ran the LP line over them, yes then a lightning storm came thru about 3 in the morning hit our phone line down the road and followed it to the house across the copper LP pipe blew a hole in it,started a fire, but also blew a small hole in the water line so had a mist of water on it but couldn't put it out, all right next to a floor joist, when DAD smelled smoke he got us all up and he ran to the basement because a red glow was coming from there, and he remembered MOM was washing the day before with our modern wringer type washing machine and she had left the water in it from the last load .so he dipped it out until fire was out, oh yes electricity was out to. but we got a remolded kitchen then, Somethings do happen for the best my MOM thought. | |
