Ive stop at a rest area west of des moins on I 80 HEADED EAST AND THE REST AREA HAS A SIGN THAT SHOWS THE DEPTH OF THE TOP SOIL MAYBE 100 YEARS AGO GIVE OR TAKE SOME YEARS BUT IT IS QUITE SHOCKING HOW MUCH TOP SOIL HAS BEEN LOST IT THE PEROID OF TIME THEY TALK ABOUT. MY GRAND DAD JENNINGS BORN IN 1886 I BELIEVE AS LONG AS I WAS ALIVE HE NEVER ALOW ANY PLOWING ON THOSE HILLS IN NORTHERN WVA AS HE WAS A COW CALF MAN ONLY HAY AND PASTURE AND NEW WHAT HAPPENED WHEN YOU PLOWED THAT FRAGLE LAND WITH MAYBE COUPLE INCHES OF TOP SOIL . HE HAD A GRAIN HE KEPT IN THE BARN HANGING UP 6 OR 8 FT. IT COULD OF BEEN NO LONGER THAN 3 FT LONG. SOUND LIKE WE HAVE DONE AWAY WITH 50% OF OUR CARBIN NOW. NOT GOOD . ARCHIE PS iM RESPONABLE FOR MY SHARE IN THE LAST 50 OR SO YEARS
