I haven't read that book but erosion is a problem.

Attached are pics of soil I dug outta the pond. Here their is 0-3' of black soil then yellow clay that is only good for packing fill.

I don't think this pond was dug and they were still hitting black dirt when digging......back in 1985 nrcs put out a soil book by county and they said that my grundy soil was prone to erosion.....mentioned cover crops....I'm one of the few in the area to plant a cover and last year was my first year.

Cows grazing adds more then NPK, it has micros and all sorts of good stuff in it for the soil that I don't fully understand.

Another thing to ponder is: Do we have a run off problem or a water infiltration problem??
