Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | I've read the book. It is interesting.
However, it was written by a guy whose goal was to make money selling books. I think a good portion of the book is some interesting history, some of it is theory, and some of it would be better off in the fiction section.
Some of the historical blunders we've made as a civilization no doubt ruined some land. Some of it would have been ruined anyway. Some of that land has been put back into production now that we've learned a little more about soils. Funny thing, cultivated acres are always increasing... seems to go against his theory that we are going to run out of land and ruin what we are farming.
Lets not forget that erosion is a very natural process as well. We can speed it up, or slow it down, but it is always going to occur. Funny thing, it is also how our farmland was all formed to begin with...
