I dont understand how a person stakes their whole operation on rented ground. Around here most guys only rent a piece for 1 year then the next guy comes in and so on. He should own some land if he has been farming for over 24 years.
Lots of ground around here is rented, and I know several farmers that own little, if any, of what they farm. We are in an area that is close to Houston and the past 30-40 years the speculative value has always exceeded what a farmer could 'pencil out' paying for the land. |
maybe lost a farm.... are land prices ever gonna go down??
