Yes LOL, there are a few parts guys that really do not care to learn the product, plus do not have a farm or mechanical background. Those guys are near impossible to work with.
Another is the willing kid who has no mechanic or farm background, so he has the handicap of not having any mechanical experience that would help him understand where the part fits and what it does. I have found that with this kind of willing but inexperienced parts person, your being patient and helpful at explaning the part and what it does, and help walk him through the computer / parts book choices will make things go a lot better.
Anything you can do to make his day go better will usually make your day go better too. I have had to get behind the counter to look at the monitor to help me and the parts guy find the part and what the factory calls it. Sometimes what I call it and what the parts book calls it can be very different, this can cause confusion. I always try to learn the factory title for the item so not to confuse the parts guy the next time I ask.

The best parts guys are those that are motor heads that do their own repair work or have spent years in the shop before moving to parts. Those guys have a better understanding of mechanical things which makes it easier for them to connect with what they see in the parts books.
We have several auto parts store and machine dealer counter guys like that in my area who are pretty sharp.
