Lake Village AR
I have told the owners at my dealer they need to send the parts guys to the training schools just as often as mechanics simply because part of the class is locating components on the machine. We have 3 very capable parts men but if they have never seen where something is on a particular piece of equipment then it is very difficult for them to find it on a computer screen. That doesn't keep us techs from giving them a hard time though. Being an old farmer does not mean you will be a good parts man because the 4th parts man that we have on the shop counter is clueless, he cannot find a shaker bushing for a combine without some help and told me himself that he is bad with numbers. I politely told him he is in the wrong business then!!!!
