| I guess I'm missing the part where the parts guy screwed up.
Pictures in parts books and on the parts computers are drawings, not color (or B&W) photos on PDA phones, they are representations and they may not look the same. It requires a combo of: an accurate parts description, knowing the part's correct location on the machine and the ability to associate the two in order to ensure accuracy. I can see where it would take multiple tries by a new parts guy, even an experienced one coming from another brand, to get it right. At least he tried multiple times to look for it to make sure it wasn't on the shelf before ordering it.
It requires patience in order to do business today. Your time is just as expensive (and important) as it is for the person behind the counter, or any other service provider.
After all, experience is the best teacher. I'm still learning every day, and paying myself to do so.
