Subject: RE: Another thought about interference

Centre county Pennsylvania, USA
Any cable that is carrying data (in or out) but not terminated (not plugged in to a terminating device) can (and probably will) transmit and receive more RF interference than it will when properly terminated. As you commented, unterminated cables tend to act as antenna to some degree. Don't know if that was cause of Noisy 1 PPC faults but it could be. If at all possible, remove any data carrying cable that is not being used, particularly if it's a long cable. We are using Trimble's GPS speed T cable on EZsteer, it has at least one short (less than 12 inches) serial cable that is carrying data and is currently not connected (terminated) to any device. We haven't had any reason to believe that short unterminated cable is causing RF interference with any of the Precision Ag boxes in tractor.
