Minnesota | What size is the sprayer? 6 gal wouldn't even be enough to get the pump primed on a big sprayer.
Remember that you're never going to get 100% of the water out of the system before you winterize (unless you take apart a ton of fittings)....so, your antifreeze is going to get diluted and raise the freeze point. If you have agitation, inductors, rinse, etc...you need to run antifreeze through all of those lines.
It takes about 30 gal for me to winterize my 90ft SP sprayer and feel confident about it. I get a 50 gal barrel of RV antifreeze from Menards and use a whole barrel every year. I leave a little in the tank and all of the lines over the winter. I've never once had a broken fitting and it gets cold in MN. The cost of the RV antifreeze is minimal compared to what it would cost to fix a bunch of cracked valves, pump, etc.
