We just use the air purge function to winterize our hagie sts12. Run the air purge 3-4 times, then disconnect some manifold fittings under the machine along with some pressure sensor fittings, and we've gotten along with out any breaks for 6-7 years. Our sprayer sits in unheated storage all winter.
