 SW “Ohia”
 | The job market is in the pooper right now. I have friends with various professional backgrounds/degrees and have been unemployed for months with minimal callback from applications. Seemed to really get bad on Oct/Nov of last year.

Really, really surprised it hasn’t shown up in the unemployment numbers.

Regardless, many companies maintain postings even after a position has filled because nobody cares to delete them. Or they’re looking for somebody highly experienced applying in desperation willing to take a big pay cut. Or they’re interviewing potential employees trying to get competitive data from companies in the same field.

Or all sorts of other reasons.

Regarding timing, I can say in the engineering field it often takes several weeks to get a callback, then the entire process can drag out for 3-4 months.
