| I don't have any evidence that FJ Dynamics took much if anything from AOG. They aren't using AOG itself and they aren't using the same hardware platform Windows runs on. AOG is proof others can do autosteer besides the incumbants. The algorithms are fairly well known. And even if they looked at AOG to find out how do do it, that's actually fine, legally and ethically.
I suspect FJ Dynamics uses negative-feedback heading error to track a line, which is what everyone else does. AOG is the only one that uses a slightly different (and in my opinion better) take on it, using the Stanley Steering algorithm, or the Pure Persuit algorithm. You can tell the difference when acquiring a line. With conventional autosteering systems, the tractor tends to veer towards the line. AOG, depending on the steering algorithm chosen, plots a circular intercept with the line and the result is quite a bit smoother. I'm sure there are tradeoffs.
Anyway I agree that spamming forums is not a good thing and does not reflect well on a company. Shame on them for such behavior. | |
