I would suggest cutting out caffeine completely, if you haven't already. If my wife has more than a glass of regular unsweetened tea per day, it affects her sleep.
I am in somewhat the same situation as the OP. I can go to sleep in bed and wake up a few hours later. I go to the recliner, turn on the TV low on one of the news channels and can be asleep in a few minutes.
