Subject: Insight and split planter

NE MO & W IL
I don't own an Insight yet (just an Advantage), but I know the Insight can log split planter and then automatically track yields for each variety during harvest. This is simple with a 12 row planter and a 6 row corn head. No more harvesting one variety at a time!

Here's my question. Can you plant beans, for example, with a 12 row 30 in planter and then harvest with a 20 ft. platform? To do this, you would have to load the planter with 8 rows of one variety and 4 rows of another, thus making 20 ft. swaths of one variety as you plant a field. I don't have auto steer (yet), but guess rows are not a problem, I no-till right between old corn rows.

Can the Insight log split planter this way, 8 and 4, or do you have to split the planter equally?

If anyone has experience with this, please let me know. This may be one for the Ag Leader experts, I don't know.

Thanks!
