NW Missouri | I have a well system with a 40 gallon pressure tank with a bad bladder (3 years old). I was told that I could still use it since older tanks don't even have bladders, but I've adjusted the air on it several times and I can't get the pressure to regulate right. I'm done coming home to find that the low pressure switch has shut things off and all the waterers are empty with plenty of water in the well - I'm putting in a new pressure tank.
My question is - if I tee in and add a little pressure tank beside the big one (leaving the big one connected as only a holding tank with no air cushion) will I still get the same benefits of a large tank as far as the pump not cycling as much? I think I would. The guy at the hardware store says I won't - that the old tank being connected will do me no good, and that if I want the pump not to cycle as much I need to add a big tank. I think he's just trying to sell me something I don't need. | |
