I think how each one affects the soil depends somewhat on the condition and moisture of the soil when you are tiling.The plows may smear but the wheels can compact the sidewalls. Our soils are light textured and I prefer the plows.As it rips thru it lifts the soil and after it settles back down with little disruption of the soil profile.I think we get better drainage quicker with the plow.
