| In the grand scheme of things, New York doesn't grow much soybean, hardly worth mentioning. But, I had to go to the farm store today to pick up chemical. I drove up one route 20 miles up and 20 miles back by another. And it struck me as I drove along. Ten years ago, even five years ago, you would see one soybean field for every ten corn fields. Today, it is just the opposite, ten bean fields for every corn field. Even some of the mega dairies are growing soybeans.
Now, I'm in a little bit of soybean area but say what you want, the collapse in price is going to hurt here. It's going to hurt a lot of former dairy farmers who gave up miking cows because being forced to dump $12 milk just didn't cut it. | |
