Subject: RE: Just who is moving this market? Hint it's not a politician

Lets get back to some sanity. The players in the market make money when it moves. I'd argue some make the biggest money on the way down - it takes some guts to bet against the market (it has to go up right?). So this is just the sort of news to get a big rally going (the wrong way for us). All that extra money in the market (that can buy our market 10x over btw) just decided to sell. They were great a few weeks ago and we almost hit $4 cash for fall, but now we experience the other side of the coin.

It's not like the market tanking wasn't a possibility, though some here twist themselves in knots suggesting corn should be $5 because we only have a 2 BBu carryover. The reality is corn is plentiful so market forces should make it cheap. The fact that it wasn't cheap was a gift that we should have taken advantage of. I did, but, typical for us farmers, didn't take enough advantage. So now we go back to working on costs and looking for an opportunity. The crazy fund money can fly back into the market as fast as it left (then leave again).

As for Trump, he has a job to do and trade with China has been out of control (both with physical things and intellectual property - everyone knows it). It's not that it needs to be highly regulated, but maybe we play by mostly the same set of rules? In reality, China wants to eat and eat better. Trade will go on and it will work out. This isn't a Jimmy Carter "I'm mad at you so here is an embargo". It's a bit silly to think one guy pulls all the strings in trade. Trade will go on regardless of tariffs. It will likely get better if more parties adhere to a few rules.

Keep in mind there is a completely illegal drug trade that is enormous that goes on despite being against the law and lots of folks trying to stop it. China doesn't buy beans, some corn and pigs just for political reasons - they want it and eat it. China will likely fix this very quickly.
