That's the reason why anything done in high vacuum from microchip production, thin films, material science and physics research is done in a clean room. Anything that is put into the system is first pasivated then put into a oven and baked out in a vacuum furnace to remove any moisture. If you have any moisture in a vacuum system you will never reach high or ultra high vac.
