| The whole thing started with you complaining about your car telling you ice was possible at 37°. Your car manufacturer is taking into account that if the air temperature is 37°, other factors can work together to create a water temp of 32° or less.
None of the 3 or 4 people you say are arguing that the temp of water freezes above 32° actually said that. They said water can freeze (hit 32° or less) in air temperatures higher than 32°.
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with your car warning you that ice could happen at 37° air temp or lower. If it's windy evaporation could cause the water temp to get to freezing. The ground could be colder than the air which could cause cold rain that hits the highway to freeze when it cools sitting on the highway at night. You could drive through a lower area where the temp changes more rapidly than the car thermometer can keep up with. Etc. | |
