Pittsburg, Kansas

Wife and I just got back from a wide ranging motorcycle trip and it always amazes me when traveling through what otherwise would almost be considered desert there are these pivots or laser graded flooded fields that look like the Garden of Eden. Part of our trip was through California where they raise so many almonds, English walnuts along with various fruit trees and who knows what else and just outside the lush irrigated fields of trees is sage brush and desert. Eastern Colorado field after field of irrigated potatoes, corn and other stuff with non irrigated ground next to it that looked like it would starve an old cow.

Pretty amazing what can be done with enough water at the right time on those soils.

John
