It was hedged and rolled a couple times long ago at higher prices, just had to wait for the basis to do its thing. Bins, hedging, and basis play are the way to make it work in the Dakotas. The farm has about 1.5 million bushels in storage now. I'm spoiled and lucky to have learned from some of the best. Most of my friends eyes glaze over when I explain marketing tactics vs using a marketing firm or selling off the combine.... I like averaging prices well from statistics and analysis of trends. If you go for the home run everytime, you get bit in the butt more often than not. I also appreciate the chartist on this site because they give me an awesome idea of what the price range is for any point in time. Thanks y'all!
