Subject: RE: Did anyone listen to Market to market-Steins

Sioux County, NWIA
My two thoughts about Holstein steers--I'm a rookie custom cattle feeder and a life long dairy person.

Fed one round of Holsteins that went from 7XX to near 1600 about as fast as the colored cattle, on the same ration, except we fed 60 Mcal to the coloreds and 62 to the cheeseburgers. Simple TMR of ground hay, cracked corn, modified distillers and a protein balancer.

From the dairy side, I would think that there will be a trend toward fewer steers over time as sorted semen becomes more cost effective.
