nw oh | I have talked with my buyer quite a bit about this and he is pretty in the know with both Tyson and JBS this has never been brought up about the CAB. Could be a part of it. But there is still a market for good choice meat other than CAB.
My buyer points more to the increased carcass size of some of the Holstein coming out of lots that had normally been colored feeders. The Holstein when fed to long naturally gets too tall and at some kill plants rails are not high enough to handle the increased height. So then with a larger fed cattle supply from more cows and calves said Tyson and others did not feel the need to bother with the Holsteins any longer. I do not think this is the sole reason either. Think it is a whole slew of issues. I would not give as much credit to the CAB people as she did. The meat is still marketable and If I were a packer I would "risk" buying beef $40 lower and still find a place for it even if it isn't CAB.
