Think what happens with free trade; prices generally fall for most goods = good for consumers.

So in a Trump economy, with NAFTA probably being restricted, prices will rise. Could be good for farmers! But the consumer can now not afford to buy the higher priced goods. End result = less spending = recession or even depression = bad for everybody.
Recession/Depression leads to tighter lending; higher interest rates, businesses including farms going bust.

But then again, with the infinite trade deficits most Western countries now run, we are on our way to going bust anyhow. Might as well go bust but ensure we don't rely on foreign countries to make all our stuff.

P.S I am Canadian; and not that worried about Trump. More worried that own leader screws things up.
