Young people are always impressed with newer machinery... I was too and told my dad he needed to trade up his "junk" tractors for new ones about 10 years ago... His "junk" tractors are 4455 FWA with 3500 hours and 4650 with 4700 hours..,

Now my first tractor is a 4620 with 6500 hours and I see that new fancy tractors arnt sh't

If you want to transition to organic for the money go for it. Consider it a challange and think of all ways to suppress weeds. Treat farming like a business... that means keep your equipment costs down.

If your goal is to buy newer equiptment go find a job doing something else... Equipment comes after the land, land comes first. Don't get that twisted around when looking at your college buddies parents fancy equipment... They also have 2000 acres

This. I don't understand new equipment at all. Way over priced , can't work on yourself , loses most of it's value the day its delivered , and still not as reliable as a 40 year old tractor.
