West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | So what if the gross is $600.00/acre, it could gross $6,000.00/acre. If the OP's costs are more than that he loses real money. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
$600.00 - $225.00 rent = $375.00 left to pay all other costs. Lets say the OP's other costs/acre is $385.00, he LOSES $10.00/acre x 200 acres = $2,000.00 on the rented land...right?
$600.00 - $125.00 rent = $475.00 left to pay all other costs. Lets say the OP's other costs/acre is $385.00, he MAKES $90.00/acre x 400 acres = $36,000.00 on his dad's land...right?
Now you have to subtract the $2,000.00 LOSS the rented ground generated from the $36,000.00 PROFIT his dad's ground earned him. So by my math working harder and wearing out his machinery will give the OP $2,000.00 LESS to spend on frivolous things like food.
