Excellent point! Even the countries who appear to have the capacity to produce higher octane fuel choose to use ethanol. Why? They can make more $$$$ producing a lower octane gasoline (better yield per gallon of crude refined) and upgrade it with ethanol. That is why I believe ethanol can stand on it's own as a octane booster. Beware, big oil is standing on the sidelines waiting to buy up under capitalized ethanol plants for pennies on the dollar.
The next time you see an eviromentalist thank him for Ethanol's survival
