| if it bothers you that much i would say just walk away form it. it would probably bother me too if i were in your position, BUT i would just keep doing what the old man wants and just keep trying your best to do what you can for him and his farm, sounds like the family likes you and whenver its not his decision anymore you likely have a good chance of being able to farm it yourself. untill then collect your pay check and try not to let it bother you to much.
edit to add, try not to pressure him too much into anything he dosent want to do, you might just end up pissing him off and somwone else will be farming it then. some old timers are so set in their ways it dosent matter what kind of proof you show or tell them if you try to change what they know or the way they have been doing it your only going to offend them. just the way it is.
