thumb of mi | We went thru that with my son. He was good with word flash cards but was super slow at putting them together. We had him tested the guy theat did the testing said it was maturity. My wife was not pleased with that diagnoses. But proved to be mostly right. We held him back and things were much better We would read with him every night. It was horrible and was not helping.
Also turns out much later he found out he had major stignetism. He had been tested but it was not found till later. The doctor said it was as bad as he'd seen. So that didn't help
