Ditto, 12% moisture and screened for fines and treated for bugs will work. Like many older guys on here I had experience with the 3 year grain reserve courtesy of Uncle Sam. It was a big job keeping grain that long. It can be done but it's not easy.
My thought was it'd be my savings account. $3.75 corn vs $4.75 corn is a good return on investment over 2 years.
"Revolving inventory" though could be used. Always would need to sell grain to pay bills. Just keep extra on hand and sell at more "profitable points". I know someone will scream " taxes will kill you". But that can be managed with multiple year purchases of inputs as well. I believe seed corn could be purchases in 2 year lots if stored/handled properly.
P/K can be bought and applied multiple years ahead. (Currently do that).
And their is always another roll of tile that is needed somewhere.
Is it illegal to take a C.C.C. load on "old old crop"? |
