Central Indiana | I'm going to jump in here as I have had pretty good luck growing wheat for the most part. I'm on mostly high clay soils that in the past have really struggled to produce a good corn crop. The last two wheat crops I have had on this farm yielded 82 bu/ac in 2012 and 95 bu/ac in 2014. No fungicide, no herbicide. Disked in 400 lb/ac 9-23-30 and top dressed with 225 lb/ac urea in 2014. Believe in 2012 it was 300lb/ac 9-23-30 with 225 lb/ac urea no-tilled and burnt down with 40 oz generic glyphosate and I think 2 oz. sharpen. This year wet weather kept me from topdressing so I burnt it down and planted beans and are my best looking beans this year and probably comparable to some of the best in the area... | |
