| Mike, I gave up wheat in the early '80s. Got tired of low yields & getting screwed at the elevators. Only way we could get a decent price was truck 50+ miles which ate up a lot of the price difference. Have grown wheat 2-3 times since, mainly to double crop beans, & always regretted it. Luckily it was to wet to get any out last fall. With all the rain would hate to see what the discounts would be this year. I can remember back in the '60s we were getting 90 - 100 bpa wheat with public varietys. When I quit it seemed like if you got 70 bpa if you were lucky. Last year yields were in the upper 90s but we put a lot of money into fungicides, herbicides, & such that we never use to. | |
