North Central Texas | Big wheat yield are made on a consistent fertilizer program or on gambling. I assume you are irrigated if you are running forage sorghum up there in your rotation. The biggest yields will rarely come from sorghum ground. We expect a 10-20 bu hit. There is a balancing act on the n. To much to early and freeze has it. Everything here is moving to split apps. 30 or 40 actual in the fall, 60 at dormancy break, and maybe another 30 later. We apply fungicide based on variety and not soil. Wheat can just be a pain no matter what you do to it.
If it ever is making 100bu, I will promise a hail storm will be there the next day. | |
