Appomattox/Fredericksburg, VA | Yeah Dad used to farm ~1000 acres around here. As he lost land he did more custom work, then moved acreage to horse quality hay, then added a straw side to the business. He's done what he's had to do to provide for my mother and me. Put me through college. I can't thank him enough. He told me this was going to happen when I was a kid, we just didn't think it would happen this fast. I could stay here and be fine. My wife likes the schools and opportunities for our son here more so than moving back to where she is from in a more rural environment where land is cheaper and maybe easier to come by. I have numerous job offers but it's just not farming on your own and being your own show. Time will tell, just trying to keep an open mind. Thanks for all the input. |
