For a program like quick books you would not be able to share the files in real time. I use peach tree and have it loaded on one computer in the office and one at my house. I keep the program local on each computer and then back up the file to a synced file which I simply call Peachtree backups. It would work the same for quick books. I know that Peachtree has a full fledged network version that can be used in an office stating with 2 or more computers, but I do not believe it would be worth the cost. When I know I want to use the Peachtree at home I just back it up when I leave and restore it on my computer when I get home. One drawback on this also is you need two copies of the accounting software and they do not like to give them away. I would bet quick books works much like the Peachtree.
