Morris, IL | They don't work in our soils and residue situations. Great idea but they smear/compact sidewall, hairpin residue and will drag seed. Martin UMO100 is a much better solution for a close but not in furrow opener, they can be set away from row with much more precision then 2x2. They are not perfect either but much better. I see it as more of a little N and little starter with quicker response then 2x2 yet is safe where in furrow would be little much. Relatives run 8 gallons of 50/50 with 10/34/0 and UAN with UMO and works pretty good.
