I thought the same thing too Cliff. It never stated year to year lease so I assumed it was multi year and he was trying to adjust it some. I agree with you if it was a multi year he would have to pay, but it doesn't hurt to ask. A year to year lease is negotiated every year anyway, so landlord should be flexible with rents lowering as much as we had to adjust to rents rising.
