Northern CA | Every Circle C I have seen had a welded frame that broke. I heard the new ones are better. The newest I have seen of the Circle C was three or four years ago. I like the idea of being able to rake three rows with it.
The Kuhn puts way too much dirt in the hay. Horse customers complain and so do the dairies. Also, running a 16' foot header you have to keep the row a little narrower than we like. The number one factor in university tests on curing hay is solar radiation.
The Kuhn rakes are cheap for a reason and I think you get what you pay for. They might iWork fine for you. I know some people really like them. I know some that like them figure they can buy them for around $8k, run them three years! and sell them for $3500. That is fairly cheap per year to always have a newer rake.
I wouldn't be afraid of the Allen wheel rake, either. They are less popular, but they look pretty decent as well. Many other companies are now copying the Darf for a reason in my opinion. | |
