Can't answer your question but am looking forward to the answers as we are deciding between rotary, wheel and basket as well. For what its worth, I watched the custom guys at our place run a Circle C 'Golden Eagle" raking 3 10 ft dry alfalfa swaths together, and was impressed with the gentleness. I like the depth finger design on them as well, but have never ran one. Owner said very low maintenance to date. I think it was an 18 wheel, but they make all sizes. At this point, if I was looking at a wheel rake, that would be my choice.
