Southwest Indiana
We side dress because of less N and because when we can get on our clay soils it is time to be planting corn instead of appying N.
A lot of people preplant around here but we can't stand to unhook from the planter to apply N. Granted most people have enough equipment they don't have to unhook but several do park the planter so they can apply N.
We want to plant as early as our soils wll let us. Which some times isnt very early.
