SW MN - mt. lake/windom
I believe it is good practice to develop an exit strategy when making a significant investment. A bad investment is one that is difficult to capture market value when oppotunities arrise to exit. The size of a 600 head faarowing unit may be difficult to hold market value. If you are in a position to build a larger unit, custom farrowing for 1-2 partners plus filling your needs could offer advantages. This opens you up to smoother transition into expansion down the road, custom farrowing may justify land payments for future land base hog operations, and leaves you open to a larger market (selling the barns) of the farrowing unit if you (or the heir ot the estate) would transition out some day.
