SW Ontario | I can't disagree with any of that. IN555 posted similar thoughts on trade also. Also, in my opinion the quality of many goods has decreased over time. It has become a race to the bottom in terms of cost of production with many things; even luxury cars are made cheap now.
The bottom line is if you want to have a wealthy and prosperous country long term, one must have a positive trade balance. I think Trump is exactly on the right path when it comes to identifying unfair trade and bringing back manufacturing to the US. I hate to admit it but many of the auto plants in Canada have gotten huge government grants and subsidies to get them to come here. Maybe ditto in the US but a good example of unfair trade (at taxpayers expense) | |
