Your personal achievements really have nothing to do with the OPs dilemma. word recognition and then sounding out the more difficult words is in essence what phonics is --------it can be done in song it can be done in several methods. But initially with a struggling child he needs his self esteem built up with repetitive actions.
No I showed SUCCESS over 3 generations - 4 if you count my Dad, who was my inspirition .
But you come on here with the typical liberal response.
"your just not trying hard enough/doing it right" There are some things memorization works for READING/understanding words is not one of them.
When a kid learns how to make things work on their own ie: sounding out words, the joy , excitement and motivation is priceless.
But it's easier to control those who can't think/read anything above a 4-6 grade level, which is what many schools are satisfied with. |
