I found my disks encouraged grasses if I pulled them slowly. A retired neighbor pointed out that if I pulled the disk at 8 or 10 mph it would toss the little weeds up into the air and then laying on top the ground their roots would dry and die. That didn't happen at low speeds. I still preferred a FC with sharp shovels for cutting off emerged weeds when I was doing full tillage. That still didn't prevent later weed emergence.
