An acquaintance of mine was on his way home from church last year and pulled into the grocery store along a major highway to get some medicine for his young son, who had gotten sick while at church. He left his wife and two children in the pickup while he ran inside. He had barely gotten inside the store when a man jerked the driver's door open, pointed a gun at his wife and said, "Get out!" She said, "Just let me get the kids out." He did and then drove away in the pickup. As far as I know he has never been caught and the pickup was never recovered. So yes, violent crime happens in small towns and if faced with the situation I hope and pray that I react appropriately. |
