western iowa,by Denison | I talked to my friend last nite-and he said he had contacted all his landlords about 2015 rent-he also said he brought spread sheets along and explained the corn and bean market to each one of his landlords-He did get the rent lowered on most of them, and some by a lot-as he had records of each farm-most landlords were quite shocked how corn had dropped and had changed the price he could pay-
His last comment was that he went to the landlords with not holding it personally against them if they did not want to negotiate---he was willing to give up the ground then not to be able to farm it for a profit
To those guys that had responded earlier on this post that said they felt like they had to keep it and not give it up-when you rent and do not make any money-why do it?
Here in Iowa you have till Sept1st to send notice-realize that that extra $75 acre rent today buys 25 bushel of corn-last year 12 bushel | |
