sw ontario
Back in the '70's we put on 300# acre of 8-32-16 dry fertilizer and filled the boxes using laundry tubs out of a gravity wagon....

Then when we got a 7000 planter we got a fertilizer auger

Remember in the '60's Dad would get bagged fertilizer in the winter....Hand bomb 80# bags into shed and then carry them back out in spring.

Many farmers around here had 5-10 acres hand pick tomatoes for heinz and some had 1-2 acres of cucumbers , many of 'us' kids just wanted an auto plant or truck driving job......Then came machinery with cabs, A/C, fertilizer/seed tenders , liquid manure for hogs (slats) ,ect.

My Father was born in 1924 so he went from horses and threshing machines , selling cream, ect. to some pretty nice machinery when he passed in 2005....Maybe one of the biggest changes was threshing machines to All Crop 60 combine with 15 bu. bin to Deere 9500
