Subject: RE: Acres per foot of planter

Northwest IL
I pull it with a 8270R. It makes it snort pretty good in the hills. I think I could handle a 16/32 but that's not really an option when I do plant 500 acres of corn in some very hilly terrain. The planter slides too much on side hills and too much contour farming to think about using a 16 row corn planter and 12 row corn head. I've thought about a high speed 12 row as I have the HP to do that but then I give up the 15" soybeans. Maybe it's just time to give up the 15" soybeans but either way we can't pull a 24 row planter in the 1000 acres of hills(half corn half beans) we farm with either planter tractor we currently run.
